Vacuum (Urethane) Casting is a process for elastomers which uses a vacuum to draw any liquid material into the mold. The process is sometimes called thermoforming because the materials are preheated in an automated vacuum casting machine until they are soft and pliable.
We owns 2 vacuum casting workshops and 15 skillful staff. We can accurately reproduce the prototypes with natural color, over-mold, texture and geometries from the master model to components.

It’s a widely used from rapid prototyping to small volume production, especial for casting 10 to 50 off functional prototypes. One silicone mold can be used to cast 15 to 20 pieces, depending on its design and size, product color and other factors of different parts. The max dimension up to 2200mm*1200mm *1000mm. The resin material is usually mixed with any coloring pigment to achieve close color for the product as required in Pantone or RAL color. It normal needs about 7 working days for 10 high quality parts. |
How It Works (3 STEPS)
1. A high-quality plastic Master model
Vacuum casting process requires a high-quality master first. The master can be CNC machining or 3D Printing. The master model can be the industrial part itself and required a correct dimension and good surface. This make sure there’s no flaws are transferred to the model prototype after finishing the process.
2. Casting Silicone mold
It pours the liquid silicone around the master model and cured. The master is cured under high temperature and them cut the mold in to several pieces and reveal the hollow space called cavity. Then, put the silicone mold into the vacuum chamber and filled with the designated material to make a product.

3. Filling the resin and cured
It fills the mold with the required material to the cavity to cast the products. After that, the mold is placed in the vacuum chamber to ensure there’s no air bubbles in the mold. This is to ensure that the final product is not ruined or damaged.
Finally, the resin fills into the mold and then placed in the oven to be cured. The mold is cured in high temperatures to ensure the material is strong and durable. The parts will be removed from the silicone mold when it cured.
The mold can be reuse for casting 15-20 parts based on the design and size of the parts.
Vacuum Casting Material Including:
Transparent PU, Soft plastic PU, ABS PU, PP/PE PU, Polycarbonate PU, UL-VO PU. The materials are purchased from Hei-Cast company, Axson and BJB company.
To achieve a nice surfaces for the product, US-RAPID has a series texture from SP001-1 TO SP010-A,SP001-A is glossy, others matte and more and more heavier textures.
